Largest KUHN mower saves time and fuel
The new FC 13460 RA mower-conditioner has the widest working width of any KUHN machine, with a variable working width of 12.40 to 13.40 metres.

In a single pass, the belt grouper forms a swath of between 1.8 and 3 metres, with the forage collected over the full 13 metre cutting width. Operating at this width has significant operational benefits, as KUHN specialist Rhodri Jenkins explains:
“This mower is light, considering its working width, which helps to reduce the draught power requirement. This, and the extended working width, will help to lower fuel costs and increase productivity and overall efficiency.”
The mower’s frame has been designed to exert constant even pressure thanks to KUHN’s LIFT-CONTROL suspension which can be adjusted using the tractor’s ISOBUS. This improves ground pressure protection because the mower adjusts to the ground contours to provide an even cut. This, and floatation tyres, helps to reduce the impact of the mower on the soil to reduce compaction and prevent soil structure damage.
“The FC 13460 RA also has a telescopic axle as standard. This increases clearance which then makes it easier to form a wider and more evenly shaped swath to improve drying and pick up,” he adds.
The OPTIDISC ELITE cutter bar will save operators time as it requires no maintenance and has a FAST-FIT quick knife release system. The bar also improves the overlap between the discs and is positioned to enable a better flow of forage.
The mower can be operated using KUHN’s CCI 800 or can be specified with CCI 1200 as an option. Alternatively, an ISOBUS compatible on-board terminal can be used.
“Most operations can be controlled using the CC1 A3 Joystick which offers easier and more ergonomic control. The standout operational benefit to this mower is the reduction in servicing requirements thanks to the Triple 5-inch knives that will last longer than most and will require less maintenance,” concludes Mr Jenkins.
