Better drilling performance with the pre-cutting disc option on the MAXIMA 3
A new pre-cutting disc with trash-remover is now available on the MAXIMA 3 single-grain seed drill. With its 180 kg of ground pressure capacity, the MAXIMA 3 seed drill can now perform in "no-till" or direct seeding conditions that do not require more ground pressure. Adding the pre-cutting disc option enables the seed drill to penetrate the soil better and maintain seeding depth, particularly in uneven conditions.

In addition to limiting wear on other parts of the seed drill, such as the coulter furrow opener or opening discs, this pre-cutting disc also helps minimise vibration of the seed drill in these type of conditions, thereby improving seeding precision. In other words, the machine achieves perfect singulation — the seed is dropped where it should be, with no gaps and no two-seed releases.
Good cleaning of the seed line
The specific star-shaped trash-removers positioned at the front of the disc clean the seed line, regardless of the type of plant residue. Floating and held in place by an adjustable low stop, the trash-removers offer tool-free adjustment of the working position. An 8-position eccentric handle makes it easy to fine-tune the adjustment to properly clear the way for the seed line inside the furrow. This handle can be positioned on the right or left of the element, depending on the access available for each row. A rigid protective flap at the rear of the disc protects the furrow from any soil or residue that could interfere with proper distribution. The star-shaped discs can be moved to two lateral positions to adjust their working width according to the volume of residue that needs clearing.
A disc that cuts efficiently and creates fine tilth
The clever design of the disc features an embossed profile over a working width of 7 mm, which means it effectively cuts through residue and soil without the smearing effect along furrow sidewalls. The large-diameter disc works at, or slightly below, the depth of the furrow opening disc. This pre-cutting disc is built to last with its robust bearings and two height positions for longer use even after initial wear.
Depending on the configuration of the seed drill, adaptation may be necessary. This option is compatible with fertiliser applicators and can be retrofitted to machines already on the market.
