These single vertical auger self-propelled mixers have been developed specifically to provide a machine suitable for individual purchase and adapted to the needs of all farmers! The SPV Access/Power/Intense self-propelled silage cutters and mixers have been developed to provide individual farmers with a very compact, low-overall-height and easy-to-handle machine. These self-propelled silage cutters and mixers are available from 12 to 17 m3, are suited to farms with more than 60 cows and have a unique design that stands apart from other models on the market. These single vertical auger models are designed with a rear steering axle enabling a small turning radius. This range features several models to meet the needs of all farmers: 
  • SPV Access: 12, 14 and 15 m 3 versions with a 90 hp milling head and approved at 25 km/h,
  • SPV Power: 12, 14, 15 and 17 m 3 versions with a 120 hp milling head and approved at 25 km/h,
  • SPV Intense: 12, 14, 15 and 17 m3 versions with a 120 hp milling head and approved at 40 km/h.

5 m turning radius: easy handling!

The design of the SPV Access/Power/Intense self-propelled silage cutters and mixers is highly innovative.
The steering axle is the rear axle. This allows for tight turns (5.9m). Turning around in the silos after loading or accessing narrow feeding passages is therefore easy.
An optional front steering axle is also available for farmers who want even greater manoeuvrability. The turning radius of 5.00 m is the tightest in the market.

Optimised dimensions

The dimensions of this range have also been modified with optimisation of the location of all components. The engine is mounted between the cab and the tub, while offering comfortable access (as it is placed at a 90° with respect to the machine motion) in order to easily perform first-level maintenance operations.

VISIOSPACE cab: visibility, synonymous with safety

The surface area of the windows on the new VISIOSPACE cab has been increased by 20% compared with the previous version. This new design gives the VISIOSPACE the best visibility on the market. All obstacles to frontal vision have been removed, for maximum precision during key silo approach operations. The large door window also ensures safer driving. The whole windscreen is coated with a self-heating film, ensuring that the mixer is rapidly operational even in morning frosts, or when condensation builds up as you move from yard to barn. The windscreen is cleaned by dual wipers mounted on a 1400 mm rig, with 3 spray nozzles.

Unrivalled driving comfort and ergonomics designed for the driver

The cab interior features generous dimensions: a comfortable driving experience for this essential everyday machine. The joystick and control panel are integrated with the driver's seat, for maximum comfort, even on rugged terrain. The joystick was designed to give the driver a firm grip on the situation! First, the working mode is selected from the four possibilities (loading, distribution, transport or manual) using the switches located on the control panel. Then, the multifunction joystick controls the machine. Unnecessary machine functions are blocked... The ergonomics and flexibility of the joystick contribute to the driver's comfort. The machine's motion, hydrostatic with two speeds under load, is also controlled from the multifunction joystick. The CCI terminal, camera screen and weighing terminal are all mounted into the right-hand pillar of the VISIOSPACE cab, ensuring continuous display of all essential information with no obstruction to the driver's field of view. The user will appreciate the comfort of the VISIOSPACE cab mounted on shock mounts, and its totally soundproofed space (❬ 71 dBA). The VISIOSPACE cab comes in a choice of three interior design options (STANDARD, EDITION and ATTRACTIVE). Improved access, making it easier to get in and out of the cab safely. The footstep built into the cab floor frees up space inside for a compartment for documents. The fan power has been boosted by 50% to heat the cab more rapidly. Fan outlets are ideally placed for the driver's comfort. Ventilation, radio and indicator controls are all within easy reach, in the upper section of the cab. The cab is topped off with a protection guard to minimise the risk posed by frozen silage blocks in cold conditions.

Drawing on its extensive experience in self-propelled silage cutters and mixers, KUHN has also equipped this range of machines with exemplary traction. The front steering axle bears 65% of the machine's weight. Even the most difficult slopes are now accessible.

All purpose dimensions

Compactness of the KUHN SPV self-propelled mixer with a 15 m3 machine for buildings under 3.00 m

Compact size: 15 m3 under 3.00 m

The design of the SPV Access/Power/Intense range can handle large volumes while overall heights remain low. For example, a 15 m3 machine can now operate in buildings less than 3.00 m tall. Thus, this solution opens up new operational perspectives for many farmers. The mixing tub is fitted between the two axles. The axles no longer have a penalising effect on the overall height of the machine, while benefiting from tyres of favourable size.

Even more compact

For even greater compactness, this vertical auger machine features right and/or left-hand side direct distribution. Feeding passages requiring simultaneous, bilateral distribution can be handled in a single pass. In order to make sure the feed-out is as close as possible to the head gate, the SPV Access/Power models are fitted with a retractable under-tub conveyor. In transport mode, the conveyor remains within the machine’s overall width, thereby protecting it from the risk of damaging it.

Optimal fodder flow

Compactness can also be regarded as a key ally of the machine's technical capabilities. As proof, the loading mechanism, and particularly the 650 mm wide conveyor, is mounted on the right side of the machine. The fodder flow entering the machine is guided in the vertical auger's direction of rotation. The tub's loading coefficient is optimal without compromising the mixing homogeneity.

The SPV Access/Power/Intense range features the same advantages that have made KUHN popular with users of self-propelled silage cutters and mixers.

A milling head for loading all types of fodder

The 2-metre wide milling head features a 90 hp system on the Access models and 120 hp on the Power and Intense models. It is adapted to load all fodder and feed types encountered on farms: long strands, silage and concentrates.

Automatic milling head control on the downstroke during silage cutting

Electronic milling head control on the downstroke will automatically adapt the loading rate to the density of the fodder to be loaded. In maize silage silos, it will steadily descend at a maximum flow rate while preserving fodder quality. In grass silage conditions, it will be slowed down to ensure a sufficient pulling strength of the strands in the clamp.

Exclusive vertical mixing auger

The mixing auger is hydraulically powered, offering flexibility with its two speed ranges:
  • In "mixing" mode, it ensures optimum cutting and mixing of the products with a 15 rpm rotation on the Access models and 20 rpm on the Power and Intense models.
  • In "distribution" mode, the tub is quickly and completely emptied at a 38 rpm speed for Access models and 50 rpm for Power and Intense models.

Engine: low maintenance costs!

KUHN has opted for a 170 hp (126 kW) constant speed engine. This generation of engines is in strict compliance with current environmental standards while simplifying the farmer's everyday life. This engine operates at a constant speed. It offers several advantages: a proven, fast engine with reduced maintenance costs, and which requires no injection of Adblue. The START & GO device allows the machine to be restarted automatically between 2 cycles for a considerable time-saving advantage.
