KUHN manufactures a range of shredders that are specifically designed to clear vine-shoots, clippings, grass and general undergrowth in orchards and vineyards.
The KUHN TRP shredder is suitable for mulching tree prunings and other plant residues in orchards, plantations and market gardens.
The TRP will tackle material up to 4cm in diameter, and works through the action of a pick-up rotor that feeds a separate reinforced steel shredding chamber where 1.2kg rotor-mounted forged steel hammer knives effectively pulverise the material. The hammer knives are arranged in a helical layout on the rotor for smooth and power-efficient operation and shred material to a maximum 2cm particle size.
The collection height of the pick-up rotor can be adjusted by setting the height of either rigid or semi-pivoting pneumatic wheels, or an optional rear roller. These options ensure the best set up for the machine for varying ground conditions, and means the pick-up of stones and potential damage to plant roots can be avoided.
The central gearbox is designed for a long service and has two output shafts and a built-in free wheel facility. Dual output allows a low pick-up rotor speed in relation to a high rotation speed for the pulverising rotor. The TRP is also available with either mechanical or hydraulic drive, with the latter offering the benefits of variable pick-up rotation speed and reverse rotation for the removal of unwanted materials.
The TRP shredder is available in four sizes to fit row spacings from 1.4 to 3.0 metres.
