Kuhn was a new name for many visitors to IOG Saltex as the company made its first appearance at the event for over 25 years to launch its Amenity Pro machinery range.
Based in Telford and with an established dealership network across the UK, Kuhn offers implements for use with tractors, compact tractors and ATVs as well as some hand-held appliances.
Kuhn’s Amenity Pro range includes hedge and grass trimmers, flail toppers/shredders, powered cultivators, and spreaders for salt, sand and fertiliser, but it is sprayers where the company now offers greatest diversity.
NEW AMENITY SPRAYER RANGE FROM KUHN AMENITY PRO
Kuhn’s amenity sprayer range covers hand-held through to tractor-mounted models, with features such as controlled dosing being a good illustration of the company’s commitment to technological advancement.
Dosage systems for accuracy and efficiency
Kuhn’s ControlSpot and ControlMix dosage systems treat clean water with either plant protection product or fertilisers immediately prior to the boom or lance, thereby improving the accuracy of application rates and avoiding wastage resulting from unused tank residues.
Dosage systems include an homogeniser bowl and are available for single product or dual product application, and at dosage rates from 0.15% up to 5.5%. This technology is available on Polypul wheelbarrow sprayers, Actis and Omnis tractor mounted sprayers, and on some other models.
Vertical booms
Polypul wheelbarrow sprayers are versatile appliances for indoor or outdoor use, and have booms that are adaptable for vertical spraying.
Two wheel and three wheel frames are available, and tank capacities of 50, 100 and 200 litres. A durable high pressure pump, powered by either a four stroke petrol engine or 12 volt motor, operates at 20 or 30 bar pressure.
The Polypul has a telescopic spray gun and 10 metre hose as standard.
SALT & SAND SPREADER MAKES LIGHT WORK OF WINTER ROAD MAINTENANCE
Kuhn has extended it range of mounted salt and sand spreaders as it launches its Amenity Pro range, adding the 800kg maximum load capacity Axeo 2.1.
As with the two larger Axeo models, the Axeo 2.1 is adaptable for use with salt, sand and grit. This new model has a hopper capacity that can be extended from 250 to 350 litres and includes an agitator design feature that prevents settling and compaction of materials.
Distribution over the treatment area is adjusted easily and without tools by changing the point at which material is delivered to the disc. Stainless steel deflectors control the spread width (up to 8 metres). It is possible to move the deflectors independently to right or left and – for applications to pavements for example – spread to the right can be cut off. The spreading disc has eight blades to provide improved distribution of materials, particularly at high forward speeds.
The Axeo can also be used to spread fertiliser.
AMENITY MOWERS FROM KUHN
Robust and versatile amenity sector flail mowers suitable for compact and sub-compact tractors are now available as part of the Kuhn Amenity Pro range.
The company exhibited the TL model at IOG Saltex to exemplify the range. This three-point mounted machine is designed for park and garden maintenance and is available in three sizes – 1.2 metres, 1.5 metres and 1.8 metres. The TL can be adapted mechanically for front and rear mounting and there is an offset option on the two larger models.
Working height can be adjusted by changing the position of a supporting roller, which has a forward position for good ground following and is self-cleaning. Counter knives situated in the shredder casing improve the quality of the grass shredding action.
The TL is suitable for all compact and sub-compact tractors with three-point linkage in the 10 – 18 hp range.
ROTARY TILLERS SUIT SPECTRUM OF SMALL-SCALE FIELD OPERATIONS
A wide range of rotary tillers and small power harrows is supplied as part of the Kuhn Amenity Pro range, suitable for smaller scale field operations typical in horticultural and landscaping sectors.
On show at IOG Saltex was the EL 43, a model available in 1.07, 1.27, 1.48 and 1.89 metre working widths. This versatile machine is suitable for tractors up to 40 hp and is aimed at larger market gardeners and landscaping contractors.
Like other models in the established EL range, the EL 43 operates with “C” blades for good soil penetration and maximum plant residue incorporation. Overall working depth ranges from 50 to 150 mm.
Additional adaptability is provided by an adjustable spring-loaded rear hood, which has a removable and reversible extension. The position of a rear roller is also adjustable by means of pins.
Robust in its construction, the EL 43 rotor has an oil immersed chain drive system with automatic tensioning, driven by a rugged cast iron central gearbox.
