KUHN at Agritechnica 2011 - latest developments in grass harvesting equipment

The i-BIO baler-wrapper combination extends KUHN’s grass harvesting range, offering a compact, light-weight, efficient and high speed one-man operation.

ISOBUS compatible and with Kuhn’s patented INTELLIWRAP bale wrapping facility and new forage intake system (INTEGRAL) incorporated into the machine, the i-BIO is designed without the need for bale transfer during the process. The upper part of the bale chamber opens after bale formation and binding, allowing pre-stretchers (fitted on a crown gear) to carry out the wrapping.

Weighing less than 3.5 tonnes unloaded, and with its compact design, the i-Bio is manoeuvrable and suitable for smaller tractors – ideal for small fields with narrow access and hilly areas.

The machine has a 2.3 metre wide pick-up with the INTEGRAL intake system (see below) and OPTICUT chopping facility that is designed for high inputs whilst limiting blockages. Alongside an efficient tying cycle that increases overall efficiency, the i-BIO benefits from the INTELLIWRAP system that uses a combination of electronic and hydraulic devices to allow great flexibility and control in the wrapping process. The system allows control of the percentage film overlap and enables the number of film layers to be set simply by pressing a terminal key.

The i-BIO affords excellent visibility from the tractor seat of all net binding, wrapping and discharge operations, without the need for cameras.

Advanced intake system for Kuhn round balers and baler-wrapper combinations

Initially available on limited variable chamber balers only, KUHN’s new INTEGRAL TECHNOLOGY advanced crop intake system is now extended as a standard component to a wider range of variable chamber machines as well as fixed chamber models and all baler-wrapper combinations.

With a 2.3 metre pick-up width as standard to accommodate wider swaths, models with this system will be equipped with an 18cm diameter short crop roller to ease forage flow and distribution. The INTEGRAL system includes two centring augers on either end of the intake rotor, with twin-tine flanges that help increase the intake capacity and reduce the risk of blockages. A ‘drop floor’ hatch located under the rotor is able to pivot hydraulically, allowing any potential blockages to be cleared quickly and efficiently and prevent any delays in the baling process.

Models now fitted as standard with the INTEGRAL TECHNOLOGY intake system include the FB 2130 OptiCut 14 and FB 2135 fixed chamber machines, the VB 2160 and VB 2190 variable chamber models (OptiFeed versions) as well as i-BIO, FBP and VBP baler-wrapper combinations.
