New folding options in combination drill range
KUHN has launched hydraulic folding models within its VENTA NCR pneumatic drill combination range, now offering machines with 4.5 and 5 metre working widths that fold in transport to a compact 2.85 metres.
Seedbed preparation is carried out by Kuhn’s HR 1004 series power harrow (folding), suited to tractors up to 250 hp. With a 1,600 litre rear hopper capacity and the SEEDFLEX coulter bar included – plus the option of additional cultivations on the tractor front linkage - this creates a high output combination that is both accurate and versatile.
Kuhn’s patented Seedflex coulter bar – launched in recent years and now a feature on many drills in the range - is equipped with double discs offset on the parallelogram. Large-diameter press wheels achieve ground pressure up to 45 kg per unit, thus ensuring uniform seeding depth and good seed to soil contact even at high seeding speeds.
The new Venta NCR drills include Kuhn’s QUANTRON S facility coupled to an electric cell wheel drive to provide full seeding control. This allows variable seed rate and allows up to 200 field records to be stored in the memory, including the variety seeded, application rate, date of seeding, and so on.
Extra wide precision drill for 100 ha/day outputs
KUHN has extended its MAXIMA 2 range of precision seed drills with the addition of a 12 metre trailed model. Working in 16 or 18 row formats, the Maxima 2 TRX offers seed spacing from 70 to 80 cm and folds to 3.5 metres in transport.
Seeding units are equipped with a large-diameter disc to select seeds one by one and place them accurately at an optimum operation speed is 8 km/hour. The pressure of the seeding units on the soil can reach 150 kg, avoiding slippage as well as enabling seeding on land where there are plant residues. Outputs of 100 ha/day are achievable with the Maxima 2 TRX.
A fertiliser application system with a 4,300 litre capacity is fitted as standard on this machine. This uses a fluted metering unit so that fertiliser is distributed in each row via a distribution head. The fertiliser is placed close to the seeding line with a double-disc drill.
Unlike the existing folding frames on the market, the seeding units on the Maxima 2 TRX are driven mechanically from the frame's central wheels, thus ensuring a uniform density of seeds right across the working width. In addition, the outer seeding units are attached using Kuhn’s patented parallelogram system to ensure constant seeding depth on uneven ground.
Sitera mechanical seed drill
Kuhn has extended its range of mechanical seed drills with the addition of the Sitera. Available in 3 metre format, the mechanical drill can be used in combination with Kuhn’s HRB 303, HR 100 or HR 1000 series power harrows.
Seeding depth is governed by the packer roller, which is advantageous when drilling in stony conditions and eliminates the need to make adjustments when altering the cultivation depth.
As with new Venta NC and LC pneumatic drills, Moduliner and CSC 6000 drills the Sitera has Kuhn’s Seedflex coulter bar, with double discs at a 12.5 cm or 15 cm spacing and integral depth control and press wheels. The Sitera is therefore suitable for conventional or min-till drilling.
